This week we caught up with Ben, our wonderful photo booth attendant.
BC: Hello there, so who are you?
Ben: Hello, I’m Ben and I work as a photo booth attendant for Blank Canvas Entertainment, which I’ve been doing since July 2014.
BC: Describe what you do in one sentence.
Ben: Add some colour, fun and memories to every event I attend!
BC: What makes you different from other photo booth attendants?
Ben: I’m always impeccably presented. I wear a suit, unless otherwise requested, because I want to be at least as smart as the guests.
I make sure that people get exactly what they are looking for from the booth. Some people want a nice memory to take away with them; others just want to have fun with the many different software options available. Either way guests should always enjoy the experience, have something to take home and the clients should have a great guestbook of photographs to remember the event by.
BC: How did you become a photo booth attendant?
Ben: One of the account directors from Blank Canvas placed an advert on Facebook. I responded and had a training session along with several other people. I then had a few trial events, which were successful. Since then have been many happy customers!
BC: What has been your favourite ever event (and why)?
Ben: This is a very difficult question because there have been so many, so I need two answers! I did a beautiful Syrian wedding in Park Crescent Garden in Regent’s Park last summer, which I really enjoyed. A very different event was the More Life concert in Brixton Academy in May where there were more than 2,000 people! It was very lively and it was great to be around people in such high spirits and hopefully I added to that.
BC: What would be your ideal event?
Ben: I enjoy weddings in particular so probably a wedding in a spacious country house outside London like Parklands Quendon Hall. Epic lighting, a bright dance floor, with a live band alternating with a DJ, a talented magician, a photographer to catch all the magic moments and of course – a photo booth!
BC: Who have you most enjoyed performing for/meeting on an event?
Ben: Like I said, I always like attending weddings to help make the bride and grooms day extra special. Birthday parties are lots of fun also as people are always in a great mood. I did an event at Stamford Bridge for HSBC, which was amazing as I’m Chelsea supporter and I got to see some different parts of the stadium. I did meet Greg Dyke chairman of the FA at one of my events.
BC: What do you do the rest of the time (when you’re not doing your act)?
Ben: I’m a musician, when I get the chance, and I teach as well. I play saxophones and bass. Other than that I like working out in the gym with friends and reading.
